Artist Joyce Kellock 1926-2017
Joyce Kellock was born in Lachine, Quebec in 1926, the daughter of Alex McLaren, a listed Canadian artist and illustrator of note. As a child she studied at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts under Anne Savage and Arthur Lismer and later at Concordia University in Montreal.
Joyce Kellock was an accomplished artist, once an esteemed member of the Lakeshore Artists Association in Montreal’s West Island and then later the Oakville Art Society of Oakville Ontario. While an artist of many talents, she is best known for her paintings of children in many different scenarios which soon became known as “The Kellock Kids”. UNICEF, Governor General Roland Michener, hockey commentator Ron Maclean and numerous others were and are proud owners of her artwork.
